Category Targeting allows you to assign specific Spotlight Subscribe and Pop Up forms to all posts in a designated category. This will override your default Spotlight Subscribe or Pop Up Form for the posts in the assigned categories.
To use Category Targeting, your site will need to be on WordPress and running the Grow plugin for WordPress.
How does Category Targeting help?
By creating and assigning specific Subscribe forms to posts in selected categories, you're able to more specifically target readers on your site and increase the likelihood that they will Subscribe. It also allows you to quickly adjust Subscribe forms for specific posts to attract seasonal traffic.
For example, you could have a general Spotlight Subscribe form set as your default, then all posts in your desserts category can run a category-specific Spotlight Subscribe form. You can use this to offer a specific opt-in (like a desserts e-cookbook) or to send a specialized desserts-only newsletter, reaching your audience with content they are most specifically interested in.
You can also use Category Targeting for seasonal content. If you have winter sports-related content, you can create a Spotlight Subscribe form that offers your weekly skiing report newsletter or "best slopes guide" PDF and target it to posts in a winter sports travel destination category. You can then enable that post during ski season and disable it in the off season, allowing you to maximize reader conversion during peak traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Category Targeting even though my site is not on WordPress or without the Grow for WordPress plugin?
No, at this time Category Targeting is only available for WordPress sites running the Grow for Wordpress plugin.
Why can't I add categories to my default Spotlight or Pop Up Subscribe forms?
Category Targeting is not compatible with the Spotlight and Pop Up Subscribe forms you designate as default. Your default Subscribe forms will appear on all posts on your site. Setting a Subscribe form to your default forms will remove its Category Targeting information.
Can I use Category Targeting for my Most Valuable Content Subscribe form?
No, at this time the Most Valuable Content form is not compatible with Category Targeting. We recommend creating a general Link Share form for use in your recipe and how-to cards with this Subscribe form placement.
I set up my site with tags, not categories. Can I still use Category Targeting?
At this time, Category Targeting is specifically looking for the category data for your site. It is not able to pull in your tag data.
