GRO (formerly Grocers List) is an Email Service Provider and creator platform that lets you send newsletters, run welcome sequences, and send Instagram and Facebook DMs from one place.
The integration between Grow and GRO lets you pass subscribers from Grow's conversion tools (Subscribe forms, Print Pass, Exclusive Content widgets, etc.) to your GRO audience.
How to Connect Grow and GRO
Step 1: Create an API Key in GRO. Log into GRO and go to Settings > Developer API Keys. On the API Key Creation modal, enter a name and enable contacts:read and contacts:write, then click Create Key and copy it right away*.
*Important: GRO shows your API Key only once on the modal that appears right after you create it. If you lose it, create a new API Key in GRO and add it to the GRO API Key field in Grow Publisher Portal.
Step 2: Add your API key to Grow. Navigate to Grow Publisher Portal > Grow Settings > Integrations and scroll to the GRO section. Paste your GRO API Key into the corresponding field:
Step 3: Click Save Changes in the bottom right corner. Your GRO account is now connected and you'll be able to add GRO Form Actions to your Grow conversion tools.
Note: Keep your GRO API Key private and only paste it into Grow Publisher Portal. To replace a GRO API Key, create a new one in GRO, add it to Grow Publisher Portal’s Integration settings and save, then revoke the old key in GRO. Revoking a key in GRO disconnects the integration immediately.
How to Integrate GRO with Grow’s Conversion Tools
Subscribe Forms
Step 1: Go to Subscribe > Forms to see all the Subscribe forms you've created. For each form, you should add a Form Action telling Grow where to send that form's subscribers in GRO. Click Manage Form on the form you want to connect to GRO.
Step 2: On the form's settings page, scroll down to the Form Actions section. Click Add Action, then Add New GRO Action to see the available GRO actions.
Step 3: Click Create New GRO Contact.
-
GRO Tag (optional): Add this form’s subscribers to a chosen GRO Tag. You can assign multiple GRO Tags by adding additional GRO Form Actions.
Tags help you organize your audience in GRO. If a Tag starts one of your GRO sequences, such as a welcome series, new subscribers enter that sequence automatically. A subscriber is only ever enrolled in a sequence once. - If you do not choose a Tag, subscribers are added to your general GRO audience.
About GRO Tags: Only Tags you created in GRO appear in Grow. Tags imported from another email provider and GRO's default internal Tags can't be used. If you don't see the Tag you want, create it in GRO first.
Step 4: When you're satisfied with your GRO Form Action, click Complete Action. Then scroll down and click Save Changes in the bottom right corner.
Note: You'll need to add Form Actions to each Subscribe form that appears on your site to make sure all your Grow subscribers are sent to GRO!
Print Pass, Exclusive Content, Subscribe Action Pack, and SmartLock
Step 1:
- For Print Pass: Go to Grow Settings > Recipe And How-To and scroll down to the Print Pass section.
- For Exclusive Content: Go to Grow Settings > Exclusive Content and scroll down to the widget you're adding Form Actions to.
- For Subscribe Action Pack: Go to Subscribe > Settings and scroll down to the Subscribe Action Pack section.
- For SmartLock: Go to Subscribe > Settings and scroll down to the Smart Lock Actions section.
Step 2: Click Add Action to see the available GRO actions.
Step 3: Click Create New GRO Contact and choose any GRO Tags you want added to these subscribers.
Tip: Use a different Tag for each feature, such as "Mediavine Print Pass" for Print Pass subscribers. This lets you see where subscribers came from and send them a matching welcome sequence in GRO.
Step 4: When you're satisfied with your GRO Form Action, click Complete Action. Then scroll down and click Save Changes in the bottom right corner.
Note: If you use more than one Exclusive Content widget, add a GRO Form Action to each one so all your new subscribers are sent to GRO.
