Automailer is a feature that puts weekly emails on autopilot - instead of manually crafting and sending each email, Automailer will handle the process for you! This makes it easier to stay in touch with your audience with very minimal effort and time.
Once you've enabled Automailer, if your complaint rate for Automailer gets too high, we will temporarily enable the Double Opt-In setting (for your subscribers based in the United States) to prevent the complaint rate from escalating. You will also see this banner in your Grow dashboard:
What Does Complaint Rate Mean?
The complaint rate refers to the percentage of emails sent by the publisher (or ESP) that result in a complaint from the recipient. A complaint can occur when the recipient marks an email as spam.
Email marketing platforms (ESPs) are often evaluated based on their complaint rates, as high complaint rates can negatively impact the deliverability of emails for ESP's clients.
To maintain a low complaint rate, publishers and ESPs must follow best practices for email sending, which can include using double opt-in for subscribers.
What Happens Next?
Once double opt-in has been enabled as a result of a high complaint rate, it will stay enabled until the complaint rate recedes to a normal level. You will be notified by the Grow team if/when we are able to toggle off enforcement of double opt-in for your site’s US subscribers.
If the complaint rate does not fall back into the normal range, additional steps may be taken.
* Note: If there is any batching in progress and the site reaches the disable Automailer threshold, Automailer batching will be paused. If/when Automailer is re-enabled, any batches that were paused will begin sending.
