Subscribe Manual Placement helps you build your mailing list while also encouraging readers to sign up for Grow.
You can manually place the Subscribe form anywhere on your post (as long as it is outside of the first initial screenview) and it will display as a Spotlight Subscribe form. Subscribe Manual Placement forms can be placed in sidebars and footers as well!
How to Enable
To create a new Subscribe Manual Placement form, navigate to Grow Publisher Portal > Subscribe > Click the Add New Form button. This will open up the Subscribe Wizard and walk you through creating a new Subscribe form.
Walking Through the Subscribe Wizard
Screen 1: Select the Subscribe Form Type. In this case, we are creating a Subscribe Manual Placement Form:
Screen 2: This is where you'll start designing your form and can see a live updated preview. You can toggle between desktop and mobile view:
Here's what you'll fill out:
- Form Name: The name displayed in your Grow Publisher Portal Subscribe forms list
- Header: The bolded title the reader will see
- Body: Add any additional details here to help capture your readers
- Button: Your call-to-action
- (Optional) Add A Photo: 1:1 Aspect Ratio is recommended
- (Optional) Enable Automailer Email: This will add Subscribers from this Subscribe form to your Automailer List. Toggle it off if you do not want to send Automailer emails.

Click the Show Me My New Form button to set up any Email Service Provider integrations.
Adding the Subscribe Manual Placement Form to Your Site
Step 1: Copy the Manual Placement Code
You'll be able to find your Subscribe Manual Placement Code in several ways:
- If you just created a new Subscribe Manual Placement form, you can copy the Manual Placement Div from the final page of the Subscribe Wizard:
- If you have an existing Subscribe Manual Placement form, navigate to Grow Publisher Portal > Subscribe > All Subscribe Forms and click Manage Form on your Subscribe Manual Placement form. This will open your Subscribe Manual Placement form's settings where you'll be able to copy your Manual Placement Div:
(The images above are just examples. You will have your own unique code to copy for each Manual Placement form you create.)
Step 2: Paste the Manual Placement Code
After you’ve copied the code, navigate to the post or page where you'd like to add your Subscribe Manual Placement form. Paste the Manual Placement Div code in the HTML editor exactly where you want the form to display.
Note: Make sure you are placing the Manual Placement Div code below the first screenview or your Subscribe Manual Placement form will not display.
WordPress sites are able to add Subscribe Manual Placement forms to the sidebar or footer. In WordPress Admin, navigate to Appearance > Widgets and add a Custom HTML widget to the area you'd like your Subscribe Manual Placement form to appear. Paste your Manual Placement Div code into the Custom HTML widget and save your changes – your Subscribe Manual Placement form should now appear!
