A quick guide to some of our publishers' most frequently asked questions about Automailer!
What does Automailer do?
Automailer is a feature that puts weekly emails on autopilot - instead of manually crafting and sending each email, Automailer will handle the process for you by sending out a weekly digest to your subscribers based on recent posts for that week.
If you don't have any new content to share, Automailer sends content that is recommended on a PER USER basis, which means that your subscribers are always getting content that is relevant to them.
I just enabled Automailer in my portal and have been offered two options - "Enable Automailer List for All Forms" or "Keep Existing Settings". What is the difference between the two options?
- If you select "Enable Automailer List for All Forms", Automailer emails will be sent to every active Grow Subscribe form you have for that site.
- If you select "Keep Existing Settings", Automailer will only apply to the forms you manually enable it for. This ensures that Automailer will only send for the forms you set it for. This is a great option if you have multiple email series or campaigns set up with your Email Service Provider, and would like Automailer to replace a general "forever" series or RSS email.
Essentially, you can enable Automailer on all of your forms or just some of your forms - whatever suits your business best.
Does Automailer turn on for every form automatically when you enable it?
Only if you select "Enable Automailer List for All Forms" when you first enable Automailer in your Grow Portal.
Can I adjust which posts show up in the Automailer email?
Currently, there is not a way to choose what appears in the email, but you can exclude certain posts from your Recommended Content (more about that here). Excluding those posts will remove them from Automailer, Grow Search, and your Recommended Content widgets.
Can I get rid of my Email Service Provider (ESP) now?
We wouldn't necessarily say that Grow's Automailer takes the place of ESPs like Mailchimp, Mailerlite, ConvertKit, etc, but it can be a nice supplement!
We would encourage you to continue with your current campaigns/setups if you already have them in a good place with your ESP. Automailer can be a nice addition to that, however; it essentially just sends a weekly digest email to your subscribers that includes your most recent posts for that week.
Can I customize the way the email looks and add my own branding?
You can adjust Automailer's appearance by adding your site's logo so that it is familiar branding for your readers. We will be adding more options for customization and branding once Automailer is more widely released. Do you have customization requests? Submit that feedback HERE.
How often does Automailer send out emails? Can I control when emails are sent?
Automailer sends emails weekly, and also automatically determines the optimal sending time (based on open rate data) for best results; it starts on the date that you enable Automailer and will shift over time. Sending is automatic and cannot be controlled manually at this time.
Why are posts repeated in Automailer emails?
This will typically happen if there have been no new posts that week. When there are no new posts, Automailer will send Recommended Content. Because Automailer is pulling from our Recommended Content, AI, different readers will be fed different content. These posts are items the user is most likely to click on based on the page they’re browsing.
How can I upload my non-Grow lists into Automailer?
Automailer has its own importer feature! Click here to learn more.
