Synced Subscribers to Mailchimp
AnsweredI've had a spotlight subscribe form on my website for a whole year now and had the setting on for the subscribes to be synced to my MailChimp account.
I thought it was working ok since every now and then I would find a new subscriber in my MailChimp account that said “Grow” as the source.
Having just turned on Automailer, I just imported my MailChimp CSV into automailer to make sure they were all in there, I've now realised there are a lot more subscribers from Grow than I thought.
My automailer subscriber list is larger than my mailchimp subscriber list. I downloaded to check the list and there are loads in there from Grow that aren't in my MailChimp account.
Now that I've turned on Automailer, will these lists be synced properly or do I need to import the ones that are missing from MailChimp myself?

Hi Tina,
It looks like you have both your Spotlight Subscribe form and MailChimp forms on your site. Your Form Actions only apply to your Spotlight Subscribe form and then only send Grow subscribers to MailChimp. There is no way to send MailChimp subscribers to Grow automatically.
For this reason, you should import your MailChimp subscriber CSV to Automailer. This article can help.Sync Unsubscribers in your Automailer settings works to remove email addresses that unsubscribe from one email service from the other as well; so if someone unsubscribes from Automailer, they will be removed from MailChimp and vice versa. It does not sync subscribers when they sign up.
Replacing the non-Grow Subscribe forms on your site with Grow Subscribe forms can ensure all your subscribers are sent to both Automailer and MailChimp as long as the new forms you implement have the Automailer setting enabled and have proper MailChimp Form Actions. -
Hi Thanks for your reply.
Ok so I will need to import the missing contacts into MailChimp manually.
Can I ask how come they weren't synced up already since I had the form action set to add them to MailChimp?
Thanks

You do not have MailChimp Form Actions on Subscribe Action Pack, which is under Grow Publisher Portal > Subscribe > Settings. These are additional prompts to subscribe that appear when readers interact with Grow, like by saving or sharing a post. It's possible these are the subscribers you see that have not been passed to MailChimp.

Just had a look at my settings for Subscribe Action Pack and I also don't have it set to save them to Automailer. Also, looking at the list, the ones that aren't in MailChimp, say they've come from spotlight.
So there must be a glitch somewhere. Or another setting I've missed?

Most likely those that are not in MailChimp and say they have come from Spotlight Subscribe unsubscribed from MailChimp. Since Grow doesn't send emails outside of Automailer, your Grow Subscriber CSV under Subscribe > Settings contains all your subscribers for all time.
The Automailer List is separate and is only comprised of subscribers who actively receive Automailer emails.

I'm not sure that's it either. When someone unsubscribes from MailChimp, they're usually still there but set as unsubscribed. This isn't the case here. They're simply not there.
So I'm not sure they were ever synced when they signed up.

You can try disconnecting MailChimp in Grow Publisher Portal > Grow Settings > Integrations, then setting up your MailChimp integration again from scratch. You'd need to reconnect and then delete and re-add your Form Actions to your Subscribe forms and Subscribe Action Pack.
On the back end, everything looks to be set up properly and working as intended.0
