Grow is not displaying correctly with my WordPress theme

    Hey Lisa,

If you recently installed Grow, it could be an issue of Grow not having created post bookmarks to serve in Recommended Content and other features. This can also happen if your posts are marked “noindex” or OpenGraph metadata isn't available in posts. OpenGraph metadata is typically output by social sharing or SEO plugins like Hubbub or Yoast.

You'll also want to make sure Grow's scripts aren't being optimized or blocked by any security settings. This article details some of the most common known conflicts, but similar plugins not listed can also prevent Grow from appearing as intended.

It's also possible you've entered a custom content selector under Grow Publisher Portal > Grow Settings > General when your theme doesn't need one. This could be preventing in-content Grow features from being placed on the page. Clearing out a custom content selector may resolve your issue.

Without your domain, it's difficult to troubleshoot more specifically. I hope this helps!

Hi, I am having this same issue. When I enable the recommended content, nothing shows up besides a question mark loading with the name of my posts super fast in the bottom right hand corner on mobile. It looks amazing on desktop though. On mobile, there is a big large white box above my recipe card where the inline recommended content should be after it does the rapid question mark loading situation. I’ve tried the custom content selector and I’ve tried without, to no avail. I did get the search bar to work which is lovely! I wish the rest would work. I have since deactivated all recommended content features as it makes it look like something is broken in my site. Please let me know if you’d be willing to investigate and I will turn the feature back on. I’d really love to use these tools! Thank you so much.

    Hey Lex Bishop,

The rapid cycling of Recommended Content is related to JetPack Site Accelerator. I only see it occur on your site with the What's Next on Mobile Recommended Content widget.

If you disable Site Accelerator, the issue should be resolved!

    Thank you! I’ll try that!

Hello, reporting back to say that it unfortunately did not fix my issue when I removed the site accelerator.  I cannot seem to get the what's next on mobile to work properly, it just keeps doing that crazy question mark situation.  Also, the sidebar recommended content will still appear on my about, privacy policy, and contact us page despite me excluding it.  I have turned these features off for now as my site looks pretty great without them!  I'm still super happy that the inline recommended content is working but wanted to share my findings for developing purposes.
    Thank you!

Thank you for the update, Lex! I'm going to escalate the What's Next on Mobile issue to the Grow Engineering Team. They may temporarily enable it on your site to investigate, but they will turn it back off after looking into things.

The pages to exclude section doesn't prevent Recommended Content widgets from appearing on those pages; it prevents the excluded pages from being served in Recommended Content widgets. Currently you can't disable individual Grow features on a single page, but you can disable all Grow features on specific pages by using the disable Grow code.

Thank you, I really appreciate it!  If I disabled the grow features on those specific pages, does that mean they would also not run advertisements on those pages?

No, your Journey scripts are separate from your Grow scripts. That code will just disable Grow's features, not your ads.

    Understood, thank you!
