Users not appearing as logged in
Hi,
We've recently started a project to update/change our Wordpress site (essential-japan.com) and have installed the Grow plugin.
We're encountering an issue with users logging in to Grow and this being reflected in both the inline widget and subscribe forms.
If a user clicks on the inline widget, the login pop up appears and they can sign in to Grow successfully. Unfortunately, once a user is logged in to Grow, the widget continues to show the “Sign In” button as below:
This means that users logged in to Grow are being treated as guests. They can't view their account on the My Account tab that appears from the Search or Bookmarks popup they can access from the widget and the Subscribe forms still ask for name/email etc. rather than being a single button sign up form.
If a user clicks Sign In again, the login popup briefly appears then closes. We assume this is because the user is already logged in to Grow and therefore does not need to provide username/password again so they are being automatically logged in.
This behaviour is consistent across multiple browsers and has been confirmed by users across multiple locations.
The website appears to be connected to Grow just fine as our Grow dashboard shows that we are connected and any changes made in our Grow account e.g. adding/removing search from the widget, changing colours etc. are reflected on the site immediately.
We've gone through the Conflicts and Compatibilities article and we're not aware of any JS optimisation or minimisation taking place. We've also uninstalled all plugins and reinstalled them (all together and uninstalling them 1 by 1) to check for any conflicts and this still happens even if no plugins are installed.
We've flushed the sites cache and cleared users browser caches/history as well with no effect.
We're hosted on GoDaddy's Managed Wordpress plan and have turned off their Website Metrics option as this added some JS to our site, but that hasn't made any difference. Unlike other hosts there doesn't appear to be any options to optimise/minimise scripts in their settings. The only things we can't rule out regarding our hosting is firewall or CDN issues as we cannot change any settings on those, although the fact that Grow connects to the site and changes made in our Grow account are immediately reflected on the site would seem to suggest there shouldn't be an issue there.
We've tried both the Grow Wordpress plugin and adding the script directly into the header with the same results.
At this point, we're currently at a bit of a loss as to why this is occurring on our site.
It has also been noticed that the Spotlight Subscribe and Recommended Content sections that Grow automatically inserts into posts stopped appearing about 24 hours ago. We're not sure if this is related to the sign in issue or not.

Hey there,
We are looking into this issue, which seems to impact only users in GDPR countries. Users outside that area should be able to log into Grow via the Grow widget. There is no timeline for a resolution currently.
As far as the Spotlight Subscribe and Inline Recommended Content widget, it looks like you needed to add a more specific content selector. If part of the changes you're making to your site include a new theme, it's not uncommon for selectors to change.
