Do I need to use the plugin?

If I've installed script and ads.txt manually, do I need the plugin? I prefer using less plugins. When I deactivate I still see ads on my site, but I want to confirm whether the plugin is a requirement.

    Hey there,

    If you're referring to the Journey script and ads.txt files, you can install them manually but you'll also need to keep Grow on your site. Grow is required to run Journey ads and to measure your site's data for your ad reporting.

    If Grow is installed on your site via the Grow for WordPress plugin, you'll need to keep that installed.

    If you have further Journey questions, you'll need to contact the Journey Team in the Journey Community.

    Yes, I have the Grow script. If I have that and ads are showing, do I need the Grow plugin in addition to that?? It doesn't seem to be doing anything different other than duplicating some JS and slowing down my site.

    Journey's scripts are specifically for ads. Grow's scripts are for Grow's features, including measurement of your site's data. You are required to run Grow to display Journey ads on your site. You must keep Grow's scripts running.

    I'm confused, then. Prior to getting accepted to Journey, I had Grow script on my site WITHOUT the plugin, which is how you saw all my analytics. So what is the difference between that script and the plugin script? I understand the ads.txt and script are different. But with Grow script, I made all the adjustments for things on my site without the plugin via the Grow site, e.g. spotlight subscribe form, etc.

    Thanks for clarifying. From your earlier question, it sounded like you'd installed Grow via the Grow for WordPress plugin.

    Grow can be added to your site via a manual installation or the Grow plugin. If Grow's scripts are manually installed on your site, adding the plugin as well can cause issues with Grow's functions. You should not have both the plugin and a manual Grow installation on your site at the same time.

    If Grow is currently running via manually installed scripts, you can proceed without the plugin.
