My Site Search Integration Isn't Working - What's Wrong?

There are a few reasons that the Site Search Integration might not be working. 

Is the general Grow “Search” feature enabled, alongside the Site Search Integration?

You may have already enabled Site Search Integration, but I’d also check to make sure that the general Grow Search feature is enabled as well. You’ll need both features enabled for the integration to work properly! 

Not finding any suitable classes or ID selectors? 

You may need to see if you have the option to add in a custom class to your search element. A developer should be able to assist with that! Adding a simple class selector to target like .grow-search-target should do the trick and allow you to accurately target the integration from there.

Does your search element redirect users to another page entirely? 

This often happens if your search element or button is an <a> or an anchor element, which creates a hyperlink and will often redirect to another web page entirely upon clicking. This will essentially not allow Grow’s Site Search integration to display on your site and you may need a developer to help remove the hyperlink aspect of the element. 

Are you able to set-up the integration, but can’t seem to type in any search queries?

We’ve seen this happen in past cases when users had a conflicting theme/plugin configuration. It could help to use the Healthcheck and Troubleshooting plugin to simulate disabling plugins one-by-one, or even switching themes in Troubleshooting Mode to help narrow down the source of the issue.
